I grew up in the Midwest near Peoria Illinois. I graduated from the US Merchant Marine Academy with a BS in Marine Transportation and a 3rd Mates license in US Merchant Marine. I also earned an MBA in international business from Baruch college in NYC. Prior Aflac I worked in the ocean transportation departments of US Steel and Continental Grain (since bought by Cargill). I then became a joint venture manager and fuel trader for a refrigerated cargo ship owning company called Eastwind. When it went bankrupt I became a fuel trader first for a Swiss company and then a Danish company. When the Danish company also went bankrupt I happened to be recrFuited by Aflac and it seemed the time was right to switch my focus to a more stable industry where I could also help people buy a supplemental insurance product I really believe in.
My wife is a part time speech pathologist with the Port Washington schools. She went to St. Johns and Queens College. I have 3 kids. My older son graduated from Penn State and is now a junior electrical designer for an engineering company in NYC. My younger son is a hospitality major at U. Delaware and my daughter is a music business major at Albright College in Reading PA.
